Amid the banging tunes and the glorious sunshine at this weekend's Global Gathering (28/29 July), thousands of dance fans took part a bid to turn the tables on HIV/Aids.

International charity ActionAid is on a tour of the summer festivals in a bid to remind G8 leaders to stick to their 2005 promise to ensure Aids drugs for all by 2010. "

WASHINGTON (NNPA) - With African-Americans representing more than half of all people newly infected with HIV in the United States, AIDS has become a 'Black disease' that deserves unprecedented community mobilization to halt the rapid spread of the deadly virus, experts told delegates attending the NAACP's annual convention here.
At a panel discussion over the weekend on HIV/AIDS, Phil Wilson, executive director of the Los Angeles-based Black AIDS Institute, stated: 'Today, AIDS in America is a Black disease. The tragedy is it didn't have to be that way, but it is.' "
