Apple and Bono introduced the red iPod nano Friday, with 5 percent ($10) of the $199 cost going to the Global Fund for programs for women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
The iPod nano RED is part of a project by U2's Bono and producer Bobby Shriver to fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and Mlaria . Other red products include a red Motorola RAZR and SLVR and red GAP T-shirt.
Rumors about a red iPod have been circulating since early this year (with one suggesting that it would be launched for Valentine's Day). But it appears Apple was waiting until it launched its new aluminum iPod nanos last month.
Apple said it will also offer a $25 iTunes RED gift card next month."
